当館について

いわき市立美術館は1984年にJRいわき駅から徒歩12分の市街地に開館しました。コレクションは国内外の現代美術と地域ゆかりの美術に特色があり、常設展で展示替えをしながら紹介しています。企画展では、通常4月から12月にかけて古今東西のさまざまな美術を紹介し、1月から3月までは市民の方が出品できる「小・中学生版画展」や「市民美術展覧会」も開催しています。
　展覧会のほかにギャラリー・トーク、講演会、美術講座、実技講座、ワークショップ、コンサート、パフォーマンスなど各種事業を実施し、地域の芸術文化の中核となり、創造的な芸術文化を育み発信することを目指しています。

Iwaki City Art Museum opened in 1984, in the city area, 12 minute-walk from JR Iwaki station.
　 Contemporary art in Japan or abroad, and the artists’ works who concerning Iwaki are the main features of our collection. We exhibit them in the collection exhibition room on all the year. We hold special exhibitions in various themes from April to December. Exhibition of Students’ Prints is held in January. Exhibition of Works by Citizens of Iwaki is from February to March.
　 There are also gallery talks, art lectures, practical courses, concerts, performances, etc... As the center of culture and art in Iwaki, we introduce them and encourage visitors to be creative.
